Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF)
Wednesday 29 November 2017
15:00 - 16:00
Breakout session
Summary
The Westminster Government has introduced the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) as a mechanism for raising the esteem of teaching, informing student choice, and enhancing competition across the sector.
Participating providers will be awarded a gold, silver or bronze classification in May 2017, ahead of the 2018 entry cycle. In addition to this, TEF ratings at subject level will be trialled for the 2019 entry cycle, with roll-out anticipated for 2020.
This session will explore the TEF, how it may influence applicant and higher education provider behaviour, and how UCAS intends to integrate it in its products and services.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the session participants will:
- understand the background to the TEF and how it will be implemented
- explore how the TEF might impact upon applicant choice, higher education provider behaviour, and the shape of the higher education sector as a whole
- learn of UCAS’ intended approach to the TEF, and provide feedback on this
