This session will be of most use to those with an introductory level of knowledge.
Summary
Prospective students have so many decisions to make when selecting a university and course, the financial aspects of independent living can often be an afterthought in preparing for university life. The aim of this session is to deliver key student finance messages, and help teachers and advisers understand and consider the wider issues around funding and budgeting.
The presentation covers all aspects of student finance, including tuition fees, loans, and repayments, and is supported by a fun budgeting workshop.
Learning outcomes
Delegates will:
- gain an understanding of the student finance system, including tuition fees, loans, and repayments
- learn how their students can apply for student finance
- learn about other sources of support, such as bursaries, scholarships, and Disabled Students’ Allowances (DSAs)
- gain an insight into how students can budget effectively to make the most of their student income
